Vorda Pre-School - Learning through play

Welcome to Vorda Pre-School

Vorda Pre-School was founded in 1975 to accommodate the needs of Highworth's increasing infant population. Demand, and initial success led to an increase from three to five sessions per week only 12 months later. 1979 was a significant year in the annals of the pre-school, as it was the year we relocated to the premises in Brewery Street which we have occupied ever since. In the Autumn of 1993 we were the first pre-school in Swindon Borough to take the step of opening the doors to children aged two to three years, our Nursery sessions.

Our setting aims to:

  • provide high quality care and education for children primarily below statutory school age;
  • work in partnership with parents and carers to help children learn and develop;
  • add to the life and well-being of its local community; and
  • offer children and their parents or carers a service that promotes equality and values diversity.

We aim to ensure that each child:

  • is in a safe and stimulating environment;
  • is given generous care and attention, because of our ratio of qualified staff to children, as well as volunteer parent helpers;
  • has the chance to join with other children and adults to live, play, work and learn together;
  • is helped to take forward his/her learning and development by being helped to build on what s/he already knows and can do;
  • has a personal key person who makes sure each child makes satifying progress;
  • is in a setting that sees parents/carers as partners in helping each child to learn and develop; and
  • is in a setting in which parents/carers help to shape the service it offers.
